Testimony Heard On LB 637

At the State Capitol, the Health and Human Services Committee heard testimony on LB 637 on Friday.

The bill was introduced by Senator Tony Vargas, who lost his father to Covid-19 last spring. The bill would give local public health departments more power to issue directed health measures.

Teresa Anderson, director of the Central District Health Department in Grand Island, spoke in favor of the measure.

Several spoke in oppostion to the bill saying it gives government more/too much power.
